Minutes of the 2009 AGM

These were made available to all present, & there were no matters arising.

Captain’s Report

Captain John Carr gave a brief report on the highlights of the season. The season’s match statistics were that the Dodgers won 11, tied 1, & lost 12 games.

Finance Report

The Treasurer John Cooper gave his report, & as at November 2010 the Dodgers account was in credit by £649. This represented a profit of £169 in the year, after various loan repayments. It was agreed that the Dodgers membership fee will rise to £15 each in the light of rising pitch fees and other costs. There were 24 paid-up members in 2010. £240 in membership fees, £210 in net fees & £689 in match fees were collected during the year. The full accounts will be made available by the Treasurer for auditing by Franca McBarron, and they will be shown to the Committee at its next meeting in 2011. It was also agreed that cheque payments will no longer be accepted as a form of payment by Dodgers members. The Treasurer will investigate the setting up of internet banking on the Dodgers account so as to streamline the management of the Club's finances.

Election of Officers for 2011 Season

The following were elected unopposed standing for the posts as indicated:

John Carr (Captain)
Neil Priest (Vice-Captain)
Matt Taylor (Co-Vice Captain)
Phil McBarron (Chairman)
John Cooper (Treasurer)
Robert Fox (Secretary)

The following members were proposed, seconded and duly elected to serve in their respective new posts for next season:

Mike Dollin (Fixture Secretary)
Simon Cousins (Committee Member Without Portfolio)

Thanks were recorded for all the Committee’s efforts during the past year, particularly for Kim Matthews for all his sterling work now that he is finally stepping down as Fixtures Secretary and to Peter Lee Snr. who is relinquishing his post as Committee Member Without Portfolio.

Subscription, Match & Net Fees for 2011

These are per person as follows:

• Dodgers Membership = £15.00
• Evening Match (No Tea) = £5.00
• Afternoon Match (No Tea) = £5.50
• Afternoon Match (With Tea) = £6.00
• Evening Nets @ The Oval = £5.00

(Away match fees will be the same as those of Home games).

Selection Policy for 2011

This was not directly mentioned but it remains in place as per 2010, namely that nobody should have to miss 2 games in a row that they are available for, except for the few “higher profile” games where the opposition are particularly strong. This will be proportioned to general availability, to try & prevent any last minute withdrawals. A reserves list will also be in operation. Nobody will open both the batting & the bowling to give everyone a fair game.

Recruitment & Website

The Dodgers website www.dodgerscricket.org is maintained by John Cooper, who was thanked for his efforts, & the domain name has been paid for until 2011. John has recently upgraded the site with a new design and brand new features. The website has the relevant details for anyone interested in joining up and this had led to a few new recruits. John made his usual plea for any match reports & material for blog posts for the coming season. It was also proposed that any new Dodgers member would not have to pay a debut fee.

2011 Fixtures

As previously mentioned, Kim Matthews has handed over the role of Fixtures Secretary to Mike Dollin and thanks were given to him for organising the fixtures. The fixtures for the coming year are likely to be similar to those of last year, but a few new ones are planned. It was agreed that we should try to avoid playing home games at Barnes Common due to problems with too many balls being lost and that we should continue to book selected evening games at LSE Berrylands in the light of the King's College takeover at Chiswick. We will continue to play a fair amount of away games that have been booked by Civil Service opposition at Chiswick.

Equipment Purchases

1 pair each of wicketkeeper’s gloves & pads were purchased as well as some new red and white balls. Kim Matthews & John Cooper were detailed to undertake full inventory of the kit they are currently storing. It was agreed that generally speaking the Club has enough kit for the coming season.

The Oval Indoor Net Dates for 2011

Nets have been booked for various dates in March & April 2011, the exact dates for which have now been advised by John Cooper.

2010 Player Awards

Player of the Season: Sacha Hatteea
Best Batsman: Rob Cooper
Best Bowler: Natarajan Narasimhan (a.k.a. Raj)
Best Fielder: Matthew Taylor
Most Improved Player: Damian Radcliffe
Champagne Moment: The last ball victory v Science Museum.

Ken Block Memorial Trophy

Dodgers gave £30 to Superstars for a £60 trophy purchased in memory of Ken Block, one of their stalwarts who tragically passed away last year. It was played for in a special series of 3 games between Dodgers and Superstars this season, and was won 2-1 by Dodgers.

Superstars/Dodgers 2011 Tour

No Dodgers Cricket Tour took place in 2010 as there was not enough interest; however, the Superstars team is touring Bedfordshire over the early May Bank Holiday weekend. Any Dodger interested in going should contact Will Walker of Superstars or Rob Fox who has Will’s contact number.

Any Other Business

No kit lockers are available now as the costs to store kit at Chiswick has risen to an unreasonably high amount £10 per week. Therefore various items of kit have been redistributed to people to bring along to games, which will need to be monitored so that we have the correct equipment required for each game. Dodgers is 20 years old now, so it was proposed that the committee would organize an anniversary dinner later on in 2011, inviting all past and present Dodgers at a venue TBC in London. A Dodgers Hall of Fame may also be started at this dinner if agreed.

Date of Next Committee Meeting

TBC in 2011.

Rob Fox (Secretary)
