KAI Dragons 127 for 6 (Zaheer 2 for 30) beat Dodgers 84 for 8 (Hilary 19) by 43 runs
MoM votes: Hilary 8, Shimoga 1, Zaheer 1, Matthews 1
Match report: JH
As London braced itself for another night of heavy rioting, Dodgers went down to another heavy defeat - this time at the hands of a team we beat comprehensively last year. The Dragons started swiftly, running singles off almost every ball and regularly turning them into 2s. A slow and expansive outfield restricted them to only one boundary during the innings, but they still managed to clock up 127 within the 20 overs. Dodgers spilled a number of catches (some difficult, some easy) and managed to run two of the oppo out. Mohammad Zaheer, playing his debut game for us, notched up two wickets.
The Dodgers innings started well enough, but the pressure of maintaining 6 an over soon took its toll as Hatteea was run out to a somewhat over-ambitious call from Bennett. This was not a good omen, and before long the Dodgers top order were all back in the pavilion admiring the sunset. With the light fading, the tail wagged manfully but the writing was on the wall. Dodgers had been well beaten by a Dragons performance of strong bowling and exemplary running between the wickets.
