35 overs
2pm
Bright, Sunny & Windy
Toss: Won by Superstars CC and elected to bat first
Superstars 164 for 6 (Palmer 2/25, Shahin 2/35 & Shimoga (NJ) 1/18) Lost to Dodgers 166 for 6 (Shajib 40*, Shahin 39 & Dollin† 28) by 4 wickets with 5.4 overs remaining
MOM: Shahin 5, Shajib 4 & Shimoga (NJ) 2
This is the second afternoon win and a very convincing one. This's the first game and a first win of three matches towards the Ken Block Trophy for this year.
Dodgers had gone through many changes to get the final 11, three new players playing. JLaw & Saurabh supposedly playing had to make space for Naidu & Shajib. JLaw who was keen to make use of his day off (retired) and fancied to be an official umpire for the game. He made it look very professional...did the job really well, there were few questionable wides and an LBW - aren't they always! With some pep talk from Dollin all went well.
Dodgers started with usual Naidu and this years opener Palmer and both bowled really well. Naidu only conceded 8 runs of first 4 overs and Palmer going nicely taking pace of the ball and using pitch well, hard to bat on taken two important wickets. Shahin, Aneez, NJ & Shajib all bowled really well and economical in their fist spell. Rats were less than hundred by end of 29th over and we thought this is one of the low scoring game. Here comes the second spell all went wrong 2 overs of Naidu & last over of Shahin, those three overs went for 55 runs. Vijay went crazy and hit most of the runs in that period with few sixes and fours with backing from Meyler, lost two balls as well. In the end Rats managed to put on a respectable score of 164.
Dodgers had few injuries and McB not fancying to open. Looks like Dolin had no partner to open the batting with as none of the non bowlers fancied, Syed (replacing Aneez who had to leave early) got the lucky spot. Both played a good innings with some good looking shots. Ravi joined Dollin after the dismissal of Syed who tried to hit a six...all going well and there comes the LBW! next two McB & Mohan (LSE games hero) looking in good touch but didn't trouble the scorer much and Dollin joined the doughout after them. This year's find Shahin & a new comer Shajib played aggressively and put on a 49 run partner ship with Shahin scoring most of the runs, up until he went for his 4th six got caught at long on. NJ joining the proceedings with 40 runs to win from many overs, Shajib stepped up the game and hitting two sixes (again lost another two balls) and NJ playing a cheeky reverse sweep. All looking to finish nice and early with only 3 runs to win from 6 overs. Rats got their best bowler Gundry back on and all the fielders closing in. Gundry bowled on to the pads of NJ and he nudged it to fine leg for a four scoring the winning runs...
