Dodgers v LT Dinos, 28 July 2020

Sunshine flooded the riverside Chiswick pitches as a powerful Dodgers XI convened to take on a slightly depleted LT Dinos. With only eight players present by 6pm, the Dinos elected to bat first on what was a pudding-like wicket but relatively quick outfield.

The Dodgers bowling attack swung quickly into action, with Adam pinning the openers down from the start and David claiming the first wicket of the evening with a comprehensive LBW. Jack and Noman provided the first change and were equally economical, each picking up a couple of wickets of their own, including a good catch by Tom B - his first in Dodgers colours - and yet another behind the bowler's arm for Captain Ralph. Mike pouched a tricky bottom edge off Chairman John, whose brief spell in conjunction with the Captain allowed Adam and Jack to come back strongly at the end. The Dinos total of 79 was a tribute to our all-round team performance in the field.

Tom B and Komal launched our response, but the Dinos' bowling was accurate and proved hard to get away. Singles gradually turned into boundaries, however, and before long Tom was back in the pavilion with a graceful 26 not out. Jatinder joined Komal in the middle and proceeded to crack the ball to all corners of the field, and before long the victory was secured. With a beautiful cover drive from Komal, Dodgers passed the required total in the 15th over without losing a wicket, wrapping up a very pleasant evening's sport.
