Dodgers v MOJ, 4 May 2021

Dodgers assembled a strong and well balanced team for the first T20 of the season at Chiswick, where the evening started cold and got progressively colder.

The MOJ elected to bat first but were immediately pegged back by some tough bowling from Bilal and Mike Mc, Charlie having pulled himself out of the attack with a sore shoulder early on. With Jack applying further pressure and taking two good wickets, the batsmen started to take chances with their running and paid accordingly. Ralph and John bagged a wicket apiece (the latter thanks to a sharp catch by Charlie at close mid-wicket) and the MOJ were restricted to 104 for 7 off their twenty overs, which felt distinctly light.

Komal and Mike opened our innings in reply and soon began to accumulate runs at a good pace. Komal was unlucky to be caught behind reaching out for a wide one, while Mike was soon back in the hutch with a handsome 26*. Jatinder and Tawhid kept the scoreboard ticking over nicely, and Ben showed excellent ambition in scampering between the wickets - even if this did result in Tawhid being run out. Jack came in and showed his class with some cracking shots to the boundary and we were soon over the line. It was too cold to sit outside in the twilight a-drinking, but the warm glow of victory took the edge off any lasting chill.

Man of the Match votes: Jack 10, Mike Mc 1
