Dodgers AGM and Awards 2023

Dodgers returned to the familiar surroundings of the upstairs room at the Royal Oak in Tabard Street on 15 December 2023 for the AGM, including the announcement of the annual awards. Holding the meeting so close to Christmas had the merit of placing it in the same calendar year as the season under review, but the disadvantage of clashing with several other celebrations. This meant we were a select few in comparison with previous years, although boosted by the presence of Dave H and Neil B at the start of the evening (as per the photo) prior to their departure for Neil's birthday drinks. Equally welcome was Colette, who joined us a little later, and Charlie's spaniel Hamilton, who behaved himself impeccably throughout.

The awards for the 2023 season went to the following players (the qualification threshold for batting being a minimum of 5 innings, and for bowling a minimum of 20 overs):

Bowler of the Year: Gary Plahe
Batter of the Year: Simon James
Fielder of the Year: Charlie Smulian
Newcomer of the Year: Harry Woodage
Most Improved Player: Bilal Shahid
Kim & Jude Award: Charlie Smulian
Player of the Season: Charlie Smulian

We did not omit to mention, of course, that we regained the Ken Block Trophy with a 3-0 series win over Superstars, and we learned that this is known in common parlance as a Dodgerwash.
