A day's respite from the incessant rain allowed Dodgers to meet up with Marauders for an overcast but pleasant evening's play at Chiswick. We lost the toss and Marauders elected to bat first.
Abhishek launched our attach with good pace and accuracy, claiming our first wicket with the third ball of the match, but the Marauders top order took a liking to our slower bowling, with both Chairman John and Captain Ralph feeling the effects in turn. Satya and Mike Mc bowled tidily, but by this time the Marauders were in their stride, finishing up with 162 for the loss of just 2 wickets off their 20 overs. Barring a couple of foregone chances, our fielding was good throughout, with particularly creditable performances from Brendan and Harry in the deep and Charlie behind the stumps.
Komal and Mike D opened for us in reply, the former launching a glorious six over long off before perishing to a sharp one. Harry and Brendan were dismissed in rapid succession, while Jatinder set us back on track with an undefeated 25 and Mike Mc kept up the tempo with excellent running between the wickets. Charlie then flexed his muscles to notch up a solid 30* via a towering six off the last ball of his innings, upon which Satya took up the fight with some cracking boundaries of his own. We raced towards the finish line but had left our comeback just a little too late. Marauders ended victorious by 16 runs in what was a highly enjoyable encounter.
Man of the Match votes: Charlie 5, Satya 3, Abhi 2, Jatinder 1
