Dodgers v DCMS 11 May 2004

Check out the scorecard for the afternoon match against DCMS.

Heavy rotation

Dodgers' controversial squad rotation policy kicked in last night: six of the victorious XI from Buckhurst were axed, including the top two scorers, best three bowlers and our unbeaten captain. No matter. Despite a truly shambolic fielding performance - including no fewer than seven shelled catches - we restricted BSI to 111 after they'd got off to a fabulous start.

John Hilary's 4-14 and a tight spell from John Cooper were instrumental in keeping things under wraps. In reply, retired 30s from Priest and McBarron and a rapid 28 from Crawford allowed us to cruise in with five wickets and eight deliveries to spare.

Can anyone beat us?

Dodgers in extra player shock

The team for this Thursday's match against old rivals BSI at Chiswick (6pm start) is Benn, Cooper, Crawford, Hilary (J), Jacobs, Matthews, McBarron, Priest, Streatfeild, Taylor and Westhead. We are in the luxurious position of having a 12th man for once and our captain John Carr fills this position.

24 May 2004

Oh my god, they arranged two games at South Park! Yes, that favourite fixture of the season, away to the Science Museum, is back on the calendar for 2004. And not only once, but twice! The dates are Thursdays 1 and 8 July with a 6pm start (or slightly earlier in the White Horse...).

Dodgers v Buckhurst Hill

Dodgers' stunning start to the season continued yesterday as we comprehensively outplayed Buckhurst Hill. On a cracked pitch that deteriorated visibly during the afternoon, we were put in and made 199-7 dec thanks to Whitrod, Conway, McBarron and a range of minor contributions.

In reply, Buckhurst lost wickets steadily and ended up 90 short with 8 overs remaining. Wickets for Cousins (17 over spell!), Benn, Luke and Pope. BSI next...

Team for Buckhurst Hill The team for this Sunday's match against Buckhurst Hill at Buckhurst Hill (2pm start) is Benn, Carr, Conway, Cousins, Luke, Matthews, McBarron, Pope, Priest, Taylor and Whitrod.

The match this Sunday will be played at Buckhurst Hill Cricket Club's lower, Roding Lane ground.

[Directions: as you leave Buckhurst Hill Underground station via the car park, turn right across the bridge over the Underground. This road becomes Roding Lane and continue along it going east until you find the ground on the left. The entrance is slightly set back from the road but it's only about 1/2 mile from the station.]

This is getting boring...

In a game more reminiscent of last summer Dodgers last night triumphed over a mercurial ORR side in some comfort, despite conceding 131 in the field. Three wickets for Luke, retired 30s for Taylor and McBarron, and a top score from Mr Extras were the main contributions. The bandwagon rolls on to Buckhurst Hill on Sunday.

Batting statistics coming soon!

Another one bites the dust...

Dodgers triumphed again last night over a weakened MOD line-up. 105-2 from our 20 overs (runs for Priest, Conway and Carr) looked moderate and MOD started well, but wickets kept falling and McB wrapped it all up in fine style with four wickets in just two overs as darkness descended.

On present form we ought to challenge Surrey to a game. We could always let their lowest few scorers bat again to level things up a bit.

Dodgers v DCMS

The Dodgers' excellent start to the season continued yesterday with a comfortable win against an above-average DCMS XI. A slow opening stand for Dodgers from McBarron and Benn lulled DCMS into complacency, rudely shattered by fireworks from Cavanagh and John Hilary in the last 10 overs as we posted 168-4. In reply, DCMS were never at the races other than for a brief period in the first ten overs. All five seamers bowled well, and the eventual margin of more than 40 runs was a fair reflection of our dominance.

Dodgers vs SRA 6 May

A surprisingly bright evening saw Dodgers victorious against new opponents, the SRA - although the match was completed in typical fashion in near darkness. Mandatory retirement at 25 saw Dodgers reach 108 for 8 off 20 overs. SRA's reply faltered early on but some good batting saw them move to 70odd before being bowled out. Hilary and McBarron took most of the wickets but star performer was MOM The Cat, taking four (yes FOUR!) catches behind the stumps.

Full report to follow soon.
